Rod and I took a little trip to Williamsport, PA, yesterday. My quilt, Layered Windows, was in the Connected by Stitch exhibit at the Penn College Gallery.
This is a Pennsylvania Regional Exhibit of Studio Art Quilt Associates. The opening was yesterday and it was so wonderful to see so many fellow art quilters and their amazing work. We were so impressed with gallery space and the beautiful presentation of all the quilts.
This quilt, The Dress Don’t Fit by Meredith Re Grimsley was truly unique. She spoke about several ways in which the dress no longer fit her post 40 self.
Here is the luscious Wavelengths by Mary Schwarzenberger.
I especially loved the colors and design in this hand stitched Passages by Polly Bech.
Each artist had a chance to to give a one minute talk about their quilt. I was struck by how personal the stories were about their artwork.
See more of the quilts here in the album I created on Facebook on Oct. 23.
The leaves were beautiful in spite of the rain. One gem of a surprise was dinner at a little tiny restaurant called the Olive Tree Mediterranean. It’s at 412 William St. in Williamsport. Sophia was so personable and it just felt like she invited us into her own private kitchen to cook for us. The food was so delicious we even caved in and purchased some baklava for the trip home. We’ll have to walk or bike extra miles today!
The exhibit will be up through December 8, 2016.
