Final Show of the Season

We just finished our 2015 show season at Bethesda Row Arts Festival last weekend. I got a call in mid-September asking if I would like to be taken off the wait list to participate in the festival. Of course, I jumped on it since it was the second year I’d only made it onto the wait list. We both agreed it was one of the best shows, both in quality of artists and in customers’ art savvy. They asked intelligent questions and were very definitive about their purchases. If they liked it they bought one, or even two, and offered to pay by check so as not to incur credit card fees. How considerate is that?
The highlight was that our daughter, Katie, drove up from Virginia to hang out with us. This was a perfect setting, right in the center of Bethesda, with wonderful shops, cafes and restaurants right on our street and surrounding blocks. She and Rod could sit on a bench opposite my booth and converse while watching all the comings and goings.  She had fun with her phone camera and took the above picture of our street. She also did a panorama of my booth from the inside.
The only down side was that it was very cold and we were quite unprepared with the clothing we packed. I never drank so much hot coffee and tea during a show, trying to stay warm!
One fun thing I’ve started doing is asking customers to send me their “in situ” pictures once their purchase is hung in their homes. Here are several photos I’ve received from happy customers.  Here’s one from a couple in center city Philadelphia who purchased Bokeh Effect.  Many of you will chuckle to see they also had me change the orientation.  It’s an abstract so it still works!
Here’s another from the customer who bought Gilded Forest.
It’s always gratifying to see that they’ve found good homes after traveling with me around the country.
My show season may have ended but my work is still certainly available. For those local folks who would like to see my work in person you may visit Tangent Crafts in Emmaus, www.tangentcrafts.com. Please note, they have just moved to 304 Main St. Emmaus, PA. Also, my work will be on display at the Mennonite Heritage Center for their Fine Craft Show and Sale December 5 – 31. Their website is www.mhep.org. There will be a buyers’ preview reception Friday evening, Dec. 4, 6-9PM with $5 admission. The public is invited for first opportunity to purchase work by your favorite artist.
Last but not least, you may purchase directly from this website. I will be adding more in the next few weeks and stay tuned for upcoming holiday sales.
