I’ve enjoyed my time off from doing shows these last few months. The extra time to create has taken some unexpected turns. I’ve been having a great time quilting but am also making bags, clutches, digital cases and more. My thought has been to make something functional and fun. Also, they had to be contemporary and NOT frumpy. Now, that’s a challenge when your medium is quilting fabric! Here is an example of one of my laptop clutches.
An 11″ Macbook will fit perfectly. I don’t happen to own one so had to use my old first generation iPad for the photo. The fabrics are Lonni Rossi’s from Andover Fabrics.
I first used fusible fleece to line the clutch but it was too floppy. I tried many other interfacings and each came with its own set of problems. I then discovered a wonderful foam padding that was perfect for digital cases. You can scrunch it up and it will pop right back to its original shape. Lots of body and protection! This laptop case and other variations can be found on my etsy shop:
I also decided to make some cute little clutches. I did some couching with metallic silver and gold cording on Northcott’s line of Shimmer fabrics. Again, it took several attempts to get the right amount of body for the interfacing but I had to cut it all away from the seams so it wasn’t too thick. I’m very pleased with the result.

So take a look at my shop. I have several more styles: Crossbody bags, foldover clutches, wristlets, mini iPad and eReader cases. I welcome your feedback because this all new to me.
