After driving long days across the country we are finally enjoying the lovely Pacific Northwest and, specifically, Oregon. We took a ferry to Bainbridge Island to spend our first night near lovely water views and tall pines.
We spent a lovely evening with my sister, Meiko, and niece, Julia, in Seattle after setting up for the Bellevue, WA, show. They were then off to Europe for a month and graciously allowed us the use of their home for the duration of the show. The hours were grueling (9:30AM – 9:30PM) but we met many interesting artists and the customers came through. Thank you, Bellevue!
Now we are with our daughter and son-in-law in beautiful Portland, OR. For us, no summer is complete without a visit to this area of the country. Our first excursion was to the rose gardens overlooking Portland. It was a gorgeous day with perfect views of Mt. Hood.
Here is a father daughter pose in the rose garden:
The roses were at their absolute peak!
We also headed out to Cannon Beach. After a bowl of clam chowder we got a shot of haystack rock and I headed right to Center Diamond fabric shop for some serious shopping. They have the best selection of interesting fabric for a small store, in my humble opinion.
We hiked Angels Rest Trail above the Columbia Gorge and ate at Bollywood Theater, the best Indian food!
I must say, it’s wonderful to be out of that car and out of that 10’x10′ tent! I’m loving it!
