An art quilt with an ancient and timeless quality with a serene nod to the gingko leaf in the quilting.
The windows in this quilt are mono-printed with antique gold and silver paint on a dark gray background. They are framed with a dark gold Burmese silk. The background colors glow with a vibran t gradient hand dye moving from a dark gray below to a mottled olive and then a glowing warm gold above. Small medallions of pale lavender or light gray silk squares line up in a row near the bottom edge. Dark gray yarn is couched on the edge of the long vertical rectangular mono-print on the left with silver metallic thread.
There is a zen quality to this work due it’s simplicity and balanced placement of elements. This paired with the dramatic background draws the viewer in to see more clearly the quilted gingko leaves.
The piece is 38″ x 27″. There is a hanging sleeve on the back.
