Description
An art quilt expressing the vibrancy of colorful city windows.
In this art quilt the wonky abstracted depiction of an apartment building is also energized by the spiral circular quilting of stitches. It gives a feeling of, perhaps, raindrops or reflections. Dark trees are silhouetted in front of the building with glistening light reflected off the edges of the branches.
The improvisational piecing is made up of colorful hand dyed cotton fabrics. Polyester and metallic threads.
41″ x 21″
There is a hanging sleeve and signature on the back.

I just love this quilt! My imagination runs rampant wondering about life behind the windows. I particularly like the way the spirals do add the energy that Rachel talks about. Is that the train passing by below? Shops and restaurants? This is one of my absolute favorites!
Rachel Derstine –
So glad you like it, Sharon! I hadn’t thought of a train passing by but why not? It could also be retail space on the ground floor of the building. That’s the beauty of abstraction. People bring their own ideas to the work.
