In this art quilt the viewer looks at a desert sunset with layered windows of light glowing through vines.
The colors flow from a dark eggplant colored foreground to deep rust, ocre and then gold sky.
On the left is a striking piece of silk ikat with tassels remaining on the bottom. Three small windows, also with slightly curving lines all have a central black vines with orange and purple glowing through. The simplicity of this work is it’s strength. The quilting of circles layered behind the windows adds depth. There are also organza circles scattered throughout the work. The slightly curving lines of quilting on the circles echo the slightly curving lines of the windows. The Asian ikat and brocade add richness and intense color to the work.
Couching of yarn with metallic thread adds sparkle, definition and texture to the work.
