Description
An art quilt featuring a heron watching and waiting patiently looking out over a body of water.
Willow leaves hang overhead and purple iris are blooming behind her. Swamp grass stands tall on the left and we can see a bit of setting sun reflected on the water.
In symbolic literature the heron is largely a solitary creature and one with much patience as she hunts for dinner. She loves diversity and is not a traditionalist, is self reliant and unconventional. No wonder she speaks to me!
The heron is painted with textile paints the swamp grass, willow leaves and iris flowers are cut from painted non-woven product and stitched to the surface. The iris leaves, rocks, water and background are all hand dyed fabric.
Quilted with polyester thread. There is a hanging sleeve on the back. Signed below iris.
This work measures 31″ x 21″.
