An art quilt with a glowing blaze of color and textures
In this art quilt, I’ve created three windows layered with slightly curving lines of silk adjacent to them. The repetition of long flowing lines and layering of circles create depth and move one’s eye across the surface of the the work. The slightly curving lines of the layered window rectangles continue the theme of graceful lines.
This is the second work with this specific design in my window series. My window series is about interior and exterior life. There is a constant inner conversation between the desire to remain hidden in protected isolation and the desire to venture out into the social world, allowing myself to be vulnerable.
The windows are made of a lustrous Thai silk ikat. The hand dyed nature of the background fabric creates subtle changes in color throughout the work.
There is a hanging sleeve and embroidered signature on the back.
