Description
This is an art quilt created for a call to artists from Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. It was requested for use during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020.
They asked for images of artwork that exuded messages of hope, encouragement and gratitude that they would then display on signs outside at all 4 driveway entrances to their medical center.
My goal in this piece was to show a figure looking out over a landscape of calm with the knowledge that she would be facing obstacles in the days to come. There is the nod to the healthcare worker gowning up and facing her call to serve with resolve.
The image of this work has been submitted to the medical center for their use but this original work is for sale. Cotton, silk, pigment ink, polyester thread.
The piece is 18″ by 24″.
There is a hanging sleeve on the back and it is signed
The figure is my daughter, Liz, who posed, at my request. Photo credit: Andre Allen Anjos
The photo was digitally altered to show healthcare worker clothing and printed on silk on my home printer and appliqued onto the quilt.
