Art Quilt – Rust Windows will warm your heart and your space.
The windows in this art quilt were created from images taken of rusted metal on a morning walk in Santorini, Greece. I bumped up the colors a little in Photoshop and printed them out onto silk on my home printer. The background fabric is a hand dyed silk charmeuse gifted to me by a friend upon her return from Lebanon. The windows are framed with multi colored hand dyed cotton and glowing peach silk. The veins flowing across the windows add texture and interest. Circles and slightly curving lines in the quilting add a restful flow for the eye to move across the surface of the the work.
Couching of yarn to the surface of the quilt with metallic yarn adds definition and sparkle.
Hand dyed cotton, silk, painted silk and non woven materials.
There is a hanging sleeve on the back.
